The Arabian King's Contract Wife

Picture
I know it's rare for ordinary girls like me to have gorgeous Arabian kings as their childhood frenemy...

And it's even rarer that said king would suddenly decide I'm fit to be his wife and queen.
But to be fair to Emir Sheikh Khalil Al-Atassi...
He never promised love.
I was just the stubborn and stupid one to still end up losing my heart to him even though I know he's likely to break it.
And so he does.

“It is nice to see you again,” the kingdom’s highest-ranking general murmured.
“Umm, it’s nice to see you, too.” She cleared her throat. “Anyway---”
Altair slowly shook his head. You know why I’m here.
Harper scowled. It doesn’t mean I should just give up without a fight.
Because they had just about the same conversation for so many years now, words no longer needed to be spoken.
When Harper opened her mouth to argue anew, Altair said gently, “The king wishes you to stay where you are.”
Harper glared. And if I don’t obey him?
“We have recently expanded the palace’s dungeons,” Altair said very politely. “Perhaps you’d be interested in a personal tour?”
He was going to have her locked behind bars, in other words.
Harper forced a smile between clenched teeth, saying, “Nope.”
“I thought so.”
And so she stayed, fidgeted, and cursed the sheikh to perdition.
Maybe if he weren’t single, she wouldn’t mind being around him so much, Harper thought moodily. Maybe if he found himself a queen, she’d stop being stupid. Maybe, just maybe, she’d finally accept the fact that Khalil Al-Atassi was untouchable, unreachable, and would always be, especially to girls like her.
It took over ten minutes before the sheikh finally found his way to her, having had to pause on his way twice, the first to speak with a French ambassador and later, to exchange a few words with a UN envoy.
His cousins spread out in what seemed like natural synchrony, affording them a circle of privacy, but Harper wasn’t fooled. These five guys were thick as thieves, and nothing they did was ever unplanned.
For a long time, the sheikh simply stared at her, stared and stared, making it seem like he had the hots for her. But they both knew he was just baiting her. Damn sheikh. He knew how much she hated being the center of attention, and that was exactly what he was making her to be.
Finally, his beautiful lips curved, and the sheikh said softly, “Marhava, qalifa.” Hello, little girl.
Harper almost scowled, almost glared, but then she caught sight of her father’s warning look from across the hall. Shit. And so she had to resign herself with a stony expression as she said, “Hello, sheikh.” Now go away.
But he didn’t.
Instead, Khalil Al-Atassi remained in front of her, his gaze patient and knowing.
Damn sheikh.
Don’t do it, Harper warned herself. You know he just likes seeing you mad for whatever reason. And the damn sheikh knew how much she hated it whenever he stared at her. She tried counting to ten, but when the sheikh seemed to be enjoying looking his fill of her, Harper’s quick temper eventually got the better of her.
“Stop that,” Harper grouched.
“Stop what?”
“You know what!”
“I truly do not know,” the sheikh said ever so solemnly that Harper wanted to strangle him. “Is it because I called you qalifa?”
Her teeth gnashed. “I am not a little girl.” Damn sheikh.
The sheikh appeared surprised. “You say it as if it is an insult, but it is not.”
“Ha!”
“It is an endearment, one I only use for special childhood friends such as you – dear qalifa.”
“Call me qalifa one more time, and you’ll see just how good this little girl is at trying to choke the hell out of you.” And who the hell was he trying to kid? Endearment? Ha! He only called her ‘little girl’ because he knew how much she hated her youthful looks. And really, childhood friend? Double ha! He was a sheikh, and she just happened to be the daughter of the American soldier who had saved his uncle’s life. Even if special circumstances had allowed them to see each other for one week every year, it still wasn’t enough to constitute a childhood friendship, and they both knew it.
“You are as feisty as ever,” the sheikh suddenly stated.
She only stared at him. You’re a pain in the ass…as always.
The sheikh laughed, the lovely, deep sound causing everyone to turn towards them, and Harper almost swore out loud. For the love of God! This man was the worst. He was often described as aloof but gentlemanly, but in her presence the damn sheikh would always make it a point to smile, laugh, do whatever that would make it seem like they were such good friends –
And all just so she could blow her top, Harper thought furiously, which the damn sheikh found so enjoyable to watch for some reason.
“I am glad you have not changed all this time.” The sheikh reached out to ruffle her hair, just like the ‘qalifa’ he thought her to be, and Harper was tempted to sink her teeth into it like a rabid dog. Oh, to hurt him just once, she thought wistfully.
“Why are you looking at me like you want to kill me?’
“Because I am.”
The sheikh laughed again.
She grimaced. She had wanted him to feel insulted, not amused.
“One day, some people may tell you to refrain from speaking your mind to me.”
Harper only stared. Where did that come from?
“When that happens – do not listen to them.”
“Umm. Okay.” The sheikh was sounding crazier and crazier by the second, but oh well. Maybe sheikhs simply applied a different kind of logic to life. Whatever.
The sheikh suddenly leaned forward, catching her by surprise, and when he lifted his hand to touch her cheek, Harper’s first instinct was to turn away from his touch---
But again, her gaze once again collided with her father’s, his ferocious scowl perfectly summing up his one-word command. Behave!
And so she gnashed her teeth and forced herself to bear the sheikh’s touch.
I can do this, I can do this.
But with every millimeter of skin that his fingers brushed against blazing to life, flushed hot and tingling, it was so damn hard---
His fingers finally fell away, and Harper almost expired in relief.
Oh, thank God.
“Enjoy the rest of the night, Harper.” His gaze dipped just as her fists clenched against her sides, and amusement once again gleamed in the sheikh’s dark gaze. “You are itching to wipe my touch away, nem?”
She smiled ever so sweetly up at him, saying, “Nem.” Yes. It was a lie – but she would rather cut her tongue off than let him know that. “How did you guess?” Harper was hoping the words would at least win a frown from the sheikh, but instead the damn man remained unflappable as ever.
“I will see you at dinner, qalifa.” And just before turning away, he said huskily, “It was lovely flirting with you.”
The sheikh left her gaping.
Flirting? FLIRTING? How dare he imply---
CLICK!
Harper snapped her mouth shut, but it was too late. The official photographer had already taken her photo, and again the sheikh had managed to bait her into showing a God-awful face.
DAMN SHEIKH!
I love a good Sheikh story and this did not disappoint. Unable to put the book down because of the wonderful characters and chemistry. Harper was fabulous. So glad she and Khalil got their HEA! ~ Amazon 5-star verified review

I was wrong.

“You're feeling bad for me again, Sunny."
The older woman made a face. "How many times do I have to tell you this? You are not to read people's mind when you're not in costume as Mademoiselle C!"
Cass wrinkled her nose. "It's just..."
"The locals may accept you as you are," Sunny reminded the younger woman gently, "but the rest of the world is different."
"Are they really so different?" Cass couldn't help asking.
"They're worse," Sunny answered flatly, thinking of all the evils that she had left behind in her old life. "And this summer...I heard Garth say we'll be hitting an all-time high for tourist arrivals. That means you need to be on your guard at all times. And I want to hear you promise exactly that, Cass. No slipping up, no reading minds when you're not playing Mademoiselle C.”
The younger girl flashed her a sweet dimpled smile as she said obediently, “I promise.”
Sunny wasn’t fooled. Everyone on the island knew Cass as stubbornly independent, not liking anyone to give her special attention because of her blindness. By making Cass promise not to be so free with her clairvoyant ways, Sunny knew she might as well have pushed Cass to do the opposite.
“Sunny? Is it okay if I leave now?”
Sunny reached for her pen and started fiddling with it, Cass’ question making her feel oddly restless. It was almost as if the girl’s ability to see the future had rubbed off on her. She had a very strong feeling that something big was about to happen to Cass—-
“You feel it, too?” Cass gasped.
Sunny groaned. “Cass! You did it again!”
“Umm...oops?”
Sunny groaned a second time. “You’re so hopeless—-”
“I’m sorry, Sunny, but you were practically shouting it in your mind.” Cass rubbed her arms as if goose bumps had popped up all over her body. “But I can’t believe you feel it, too.”
“I don’t feel anything,” Sunny lied, determined not to give Cass any encouragement. The younger girl had to learn not to be too open about her ability. It was too powerful...as well as dangerous if the wrong people knew about it.
Cass gave her a knowing smile. “Yes, you did.”
“No. I did not.”
“Yes, you absolutely did.” The younger girl turned her head towards the door. “I really have to leave now.”
“Sure, but...why are you in such a hurry?”
Cass looked at her direction over her shoulder and said simply, “I think the man I’ve been dreaming about all these years has finally come to the island.”
By the time Sunny recovered from her shock, Cass was completely gone from her sight.
Oh, oh, dear!
There that girl went again, being too honest for her own good!
When would she ever learn?
Cass has a special gift, even being blind to common people, she can see much more with her soul, she can see the future and what is reserved for us, common people. Unfortunately her gift had put her in danger and she was saved by her soul mate, Prince Julian. Althought they know each other only in their dreams, Cass know that they are meant to be togheter and will do everything to make this happen. Of course there are broken hearts and tears, Marian's signature ! I loved it, I like a lot this short stories full of romance ! ~ Amazon 5-star review

This book was previously published as a duology: Play With Me and This Round I'm Yours.

All the boys used to love me.

That was how it was when I was still in high school, and I was head coach of Sacred Heart Academy's championship-winning basketball varsity team. I was their only girl, and they were all my boys. But then we all left for college...and everything fell apart.

I thought there'd be no way to get my whole life back again until a certain smooth-talking billionaire with a devilish kind of charm seduced his way into the picture. Silver March, with his gently chiding words and lazy kisses, made me realize how much time I've wasted drowning myself in self-pity and insecurities.

If I want my boys back, I need to remember how I used to be and start acting like it: a snarky tough-love chick that all the boys loved to hate but can't help but love.

And as for Silver March, whom the paparazzi loves to describe as the perfect boyfriend...my heart only has room for basketball and my boys, so the billionaire just has to find someone else to take to his bed.

Start reading today.

Excerpt

"I I want you to think seriously about moving in with me.”
She was so shocked at the suggestion that she threw her hands up and nearly plastered herself to the door, feeling like distance was much needed to let her think. “Whoa there.”
Silver’s gaze gleamed in amusement. “I love it when you react like a twelve-year-old rapper.”
Lace couldn’t even muster enough anger to snipe at him. She shook her head. “Move in with you?”
His smile cooled. “Why not?”
“But…we’ve just started going out?”
“So?”
She threw her hands up again. “You’re the playboy---”
Color stained Silver’s cheeks. “That’s in the past.”
“Fine, then. You’re the ex-playboy. Isn’t having one woman around you supposed to have you breaking out in a cold sweat?”
“Err, no. I think in this relationship, that’s probably you.”
She couldn’t even make herself deny it.
“Wyndham, look at me.”
She didn’t want to.
“Wyndham.”
Ah, God. How to resist that silvery voice?
It was impossible.
Their eyes met.
“I only said to think about it,” he said gently. “Not kill yourself worrying about it. I’m not going to pressure you to do anything.”
She said in a small voice, “I know. It’s just that…” How was she going to tell Slade and her parents about it? What would the boys think about it? Her friends? What did she think about it?
But…
She could be with Silver every moment possible.
She could sleep with Silver every night, wake up with him beside her every morning. She could spend as much time with him as she wanted, enough maybe to convince him to play basketball because she would so love to be his coach---
Inside her jeans pocket, her phone vibrated, and it was like someone throwing a brick in her glass house.
Everything shattered around her.
If they lived together, it would only be a matter of time before he found out everything about her. Everything.
I absolutely fell in love with these characters. I love how Lace is a smart Asus and Silver just sounds like sex on a stick. I really hope there's a book 3. marian tee is one of my favorite authors. The book didn't disappoint. I highly recommended this book to everyone. ~ Amazon 5-star review

Warning: Steam and heartbreak ahead. HEA guaranteed.
**PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED AS LOVE YOU AGAIN.

My ex looks hotter than ever, but he also looks like he still hates me. Am I really over him?

X is the first and only guy I've ever loved. He's also the first and only guy to break my heart. I guess it's a good thing we never got to the point where I also gave him my first time.
Or so I try to convince myself...until I run into him in my new university.
Oh no.
X looks hotter than ever, and my heart is more foolish than ever, too.
Start reading today.
Bookstores are a strange, wonderful sight in Tokyo. Since space is extremely limited in this city, a number of bookstores tend to expand vertically, and that’s why you end up with literary skyscrapers rather than bookshops sprawled several blocks wide. Kinokuniya’s branch in South Shinjuku has seven while Junkudo in Ikebukuro and Akihabara’s Shosen Tower have ten each. The one I’m in right now – Book Haven – isn’t as popular and is fairly new. But it does follow the same structure, with each floor dedicated to a particular type of merchandise or genre, and so I don’t have much trouble finding my target.
2nd Floor is the Reference Section, and I immediately start searching for the shelves where the newest I.T. books are. He’s always where the super techie books are, and even though several years have passed since we last visited a bookstore together, my instincts prove me right.
Yuki.
I catch a glimpse of him through the narrow gap of space between the books and its shelves. Just a brief, partial glimpse, but it’s still enough to have my heart ba-thumping like it used to.
He’s in jeans again, but this time matched with a thin checked jacket worn over a white shirt. He has a book in his hands, and his brows are slightly pleated as he reads whatever it is he’s reading. He turns around to walk out of the aisle, and I hurriedly move in parallel, not wanting to lose sight of him.
I hide behind one of the shelves when he pays at the cashier, and I count until five before I deem it safe to start following him again. I check the elevator first, but the display tells me that it’s still on standby. I quickly bend over the rails to check the escalator, but I don’t see him either.
Where could he possibly be?
I whirl around---
Yuki is standing right in front of me, and he does not look happy.
Oh, shite.
It’s been thirty-seven days since I last got this close to him. Not that I’ve been consciously counting. My point is that it’s been a really long time, and every second of it hadn’t been wasted. Because I had done what he asked.
I got out of his life. I also thought things through. And that’s why I’m here.
“Hisashiburi.” My voice comes out a croak.
Yuki’s beautiful face remains unsmiling.  “Why are you following me?”
I start to answer, but then I notice the bookstore clerk behind me giving me a suspicious look. It’s obvious he heard what Yuki said just as it’s obvious he thinks I’m stalking Yuki. Turning red, I stammer to the clerk, “Sutōka ja nai.” I’m not a stalker. And honestly, I know Yuki’s the gorgeous one between us, but do I really look that desperate?
The bookstore clerk tells Yuki in Japanese, “If you’re having problems, please do not hesitate to let any of the staff know.”
Okaaaay. I guess that answers my question.
Yuki’s face is stony, but I’m not fooled.
“It’s not funny,” I grumble.
“I’m not laughing.”
“You so are, inside.”
He only shrugs, but the way his blue eyes is gleaming –
Oh, Yuki.
Is it too sappy if I say that the look in his eyes makes me want to cry buckets? I know it sounds mortifyingly cheesy, but you have to understand. That little light in his baby blues means the world to me. It used to be the way he looked at me all the time, and then we broke up, and I honestly thought I’d never see it again.
And yet here we are.
Clearing my throat, I ask, “Can we talk? Just talk,” I stress hastily, in case he thinks it’s some kind of emotional trap. When he still doesn’t speak, I take a deep breath. “Please?” It’s another gamble. I’ve never been the betting type, but I guess that’s just how love is. It makes you take all sorts of risks---
Yuki breathes hard.
Because if it pays off, the reward is always more than you can ever imagine---
“Fine.”
Like now.
“Thank you.” I’m proud at how casual my voice comes out. It’s the polar opposite with how my heart’s doing all kinds of somersaults inside of me, just like it used to, when we were going out. Yuki is stiff as he falls into step beside me, and when we get on the escalator he stays a good three feet away from me.
Oh, Yuki.
If he thinks the deliberate distance he’s placing between us would hurt me, he’s so, so wrong. It only confirms all my hopes – even the ones I can’t make myself speak out loud because they seem too good to be true.
“How did you know where to find me?”
I bite my lip. “Well…” I was hoping he wouldn't ask this, but I should’ve known better. Giving him a sheepish smile, I confess, “I asked Momo and she made Seiji ask you.” I check his expression worriedly. “Are you mad? If you are, please be mad with me and not Seiji---”
“I probably should be,” Yuki murmurs, “but I’m not. I know how persuasive Momo can be.”
I flash him a relieved smile. “Thank you.”
He steps back to let me get on the escalator first, and I feel his gaze on me as the stairs descend to the lower floor. It’s making me nervous for all kinds of reasons, but even so I wouldn’t trade it for the world. When we get off, I turn to face him but almost bump into his chest.
The contact is all too brief, but it’s enough to have my face burn as I rear back.
Yuki frowns. “Are you alright?”
“Umm, yes, I’m fine, sorry.” But it’s not exactly the truth. I am fine, but the feel of his chest has also sent my heart racing faster than ever now. I point to the café across the street. “How about we talk there?”
Yuki gives me a clipped nod. I’m thinking he remembered that he’s not supposed to be talking too much with me. He probably even thinks he’s successfully pushing me away with it, but he’s wrong. He’s so, so wrong, and I can barely contain my sheer happiness as we cross the street. He’s acting exactly the way I---
Yuki suddenly stops before we reach the café, and I stumble to a halt next to him.
“What is it?” I ask, startled.
“You skipped.” His voice is grim.
“I d-did not.” But it’s a lie. Now that he’s pointed it out, I realize that it’s true, and that my excitement has gotten so out of hand I had started skipping like a kid heading home after the last day of school.
Control, KC. And stick to the plan.
Pretending I don’t notice the grim expression on his face, I say, “We’re already here. Can’t we hash it out inside?”
Yuki doesn’t answer right away.
“Please?”
His gaze locks with mine.
Come on, Yuki. You know you want to do this. You know you do---
There’s another long moment, and then Yuki slowly nods.
---because you love me.
“T-Thank you.” This time around, I can’t just keep everything bottled up inside me and my voice becomes gruff with emotion. In the corner of my eye, I see him starting to frown again, and I quickly duck my head, not wanting him to see my face. One look at it and he’d know just how happy I am---
And that won’t do, or at least not just yet.
Looking around, I realize that the place is almost full, leaving us with two choices: the bar stools facing the windows, and the couch in the corner that could work as a tight squeeze for two.
My eyes light up. “Let’s sit---”
But Yuki’s already strolled towards the bar stools.
Blast it.
It’s disappointing, but I tell myself not to be greedy and take things one at a time.
Stick to the plan, you must. Too important to wing, this is.
I know my inner Yoda is right, but oh – is the fact that I just miss him so, so much a valid excuse? Every time I look at him, I have this urge to throw my arms around him.
Yuki raises a brow when I finally take my seat next to him. “What took you so long? Having second thoughts about talking?”
You wish.
Yuki blinks. “Excuse me?”
Oh, shite. Did I say that out loud?
“I said I, umm, took a piss.”
“A…piss?”
“Anyway.” I hurriedly change the subject. “What would you like to order? Since I invited you, it should be my treat---”
Yuki’s blue eyes are boring through me.
“Or not?” I do my best to sound like I’m second guessing myself, but actually he’s still doing the exact thing I predicted. It really is just like before. Yuki had always insisted on being the one to pay, and even after Sascha stealing the family fortune, he had made sure things wouldn’t change. He had started working after school instead, still wanting to be the one to take care of things.
“I’ll order for us,” Yuki says.
I nod obediently. “Okay.”
“So?” His tone is impatient. “What do you want?”
I blink at him. “You really don’t know?”
You always make me cry... Amazon 5-star verified review

17-year-old Katerina “KC” Chariot is a good girl with a secret. She’s so nice she has an impossible time swearing unless she’s using pretty British cuss words. She also likes to fantasize about hot guys in her school. But it’s for work. Really. Katerina is an aspiring mangaka, and she needs “inspiration” for drawing smutty scenes.

Unfortunately, one particular fantasy about the Japanese-Russian transfer student Yuki Himura gets the better of her. She ends up unconsciously moaning his name – in Yuki’s presence, too. In a twist of fate, Katerina finds herself agreeing to become Yuki’s secret toy, which sounds a lot worse than it actually is- especially in the eyes of her Theology-professor dad.

The whole school thinks of Yuki as the ideal guy – gorgeous, smart, and sweet. But with Katerina, he’s the Devil sent to torment her, seduce her, and – worst of all – he’s making her fall in love with him even though he's said it’s the one thing she should never ever do.

I bought DRAWN on a whim and because of the cover art. I'm an avid manga reader and figured why the hell not. And I was seriously, happily surprised. This book is AMAZING. It has the manga feel without the pictures but the author writes in such a way that you can easily picture it all. It has the Japanese manga feel, from the half Japanese love interest to the aspiring Mangaka, to snippits of the Japanese language. DRAWN will make your inner fan girl scream and blush, while you laugh out loud, yell at the main characters and cheer them on all at the same time. This is definitely for an 18+ audience though. I will say that though there are no actual sex scenes the scenes that the author does have are more than enough to satisfy you.

KC is an aspiring Mangaka who gets her inspiration for her writing from her vivid, avid erotic fantasies. The latest object of her desires is Yuki, a half Japanese student in a few of her classes who one afternoon catches her moaning his name while in the middle of yet another fantasy. This encounter sets the action for the story where he talks her into being his "toy" with her stipulation of no sex. But man oh man does he make her want to throw her convictions to the wind and shag him like crazy. His only rule is no falling in love with him. So starts their wild, secret relationship which is by no means an easy one. Between the complexity of their relationship, her up and coming career, High School life and snobby girls, family issues- on both sides, the author easily holds your interest while keeping you in suspense as to what will happen.

I absolutely recommend this book for anyone who loves their shoujo with a dash of smut and enjoys being utterly captivated by the characters and storyline. Read DRAWN, you won't regret it. ~ Verified Amazon 5-star review
