As a thank you to all those who downloaded OFF GUARD (it took a long time for Amazon to make it free and for that I'm sorry but there wasn't anything I could do about it) and had it #1 for Kindle short romance reads under 30 minutes, I'm posting this one last excerpt of Greek 5. You already had the last excerpt for the newsletter and this is the last one for the blog.

Oh, and also a note about Off Guard - I made this available for free on all retailers so that when I update it with new chapters, you only have to update the version of the book on your reader. You wouldn't need to visit my website and download a new file.

Now, on to Greek 5...

You've all been asking WHEN it's going to be out. I'd really like to give you a specific date but honestly, I DO NOT WANT TO JINX IT especially now that it's in its final stages of publishing.

All I can tell you for now is to keep an eye on your inbox or my Facebook page or Twitter. I'll make the announcement REALLY SOON. And by announcement I mean that the book is finally live.

Again, I'm sorry for making you wait. I honestly HATED the original version of this book. I just plain hated it and I have a feeling you would have hated it, too.

As for this final version, I cannot of course guarantee that you'd love it. All I can say is that I wrote this from the heart and that every word was meant to do justice to Damen and Mairi's story.

Excerpt: The Art of Wedding a Greek Billionaire

She said: To wed a Greek billionaire, one must be prepared to have all expectations surpassed.

He said: You’re being sarcastic, aren’t you? Our wedding was like a hole-in-the-wall affair and I still think we should marry again. You deserve a proper---

She said: I mean it. My every dream came true when I saw you waiting for me.

Note to editor: We’ll get back to drafting this chapter later. My beloved wife has just given me a raging hard-on that cannot be ignored a moment longer.

A tall dark-haired man stood with his back to the windows, sunlight cascading from behind to lay golden stripes on the royal blue carpet. He had the strong classic features of a Greek god, but marring its perfection were the faintest shadows of bruises that were still in the process of healing. He was dressed in a well-tailored black suit, with a snowy white shirt underneath.

The room he was in had marble floors, expensive stenciled wallpaper, and high vaulted ceilings. At two hundred square meters, the room was the largest in the building and cost more than a thousand dollars at night, something not any ordinary person could afford.

Even so, there was no denying the truth.

This was a hospital room, and it was not fit to be the wedding venue for a man who was once a billionaire.

When the door opened, Damen Leventis drew his breath sharply at the sight that greeted him. Standing in the doorway was the girl he would risk everything for.

Mairi Tanner.

The girl who had captured his heart…and whose heart his own cruelty and cynicism had caused to break…over and over.

For a moment, all they did were stare at each other.

Memories, short but vivid, passed through his mind, and Damen’s fists clenched at his sides.

So many memories…

Mairi, the first time he had seen her in Diana’s school, her beautiful smiling face a picture of innocence and optimism…

Mairi, the first time he had kissed her, and with a dazed look in her eyes, all she could say was ‘hi’…

Mairi, the first time he had told her the truth about his engagement to Alina Kokinos, and she could only look at him helplessly as if wanting to stop loving him but unable to…

Damen’s chest heaved.

So many damn memories, and most of them were darkened by the pain he had caused Mairi.

If he was an honorable man, he would cancel the wedding and let her go. She deserved someone better, someone who would never cause her to cry a single teardrop.

But he was not an honorable man when it came to Mairi.

He was a man whose heart no longer belonged to himself, a man whose life would be forfeit if she ever left his side.

He would never let her go. It didn’t matter if she no longer loved him. It didn’t matter if she only chose to stay with him out of pity.

Damen would take Mairi any way he could.

****

Mairi smoothed one trembling hand over the lacy overskirt of her dress, a concoction of white silk that her best friend Velvet Lambert-Sallis had especially ordered for her. Velvet was on her honeymoon now, and it was only at Mairi’s insistence that neither Velvet nor Mandy had come to her wedding. Everything about her life now was a mess, and she didn’t want her friends to suffer from any kind of public backlash because of her.

As the stylist continued to weave her hair into artful curls, Mairi let her gaze drift around the spacious walk-in closet of Damen’s hospital room, now serving as her temporary bridal boudoir.

Next to the door was a lovely waist-high rosewood cabinet, and gracing its top was a vase of exotic roses sent by Drake Morrison. The flowers had come with a handwritten note, and remembering the message made Mairi hastily blink back tears.

In your heart, you never betrayed him.

And he knows that.

“I’ll be placing the wreath now,” the stylist announced.

Mairi nodded, her eyes going to her reflection. The wreath was a gift from her aunts, a work of art made from gold-plated vines and pearls roped in the shape of flowers. They had spoken on the phone last night, and when the memory of their conversation fluttered inside her mind, Mairi had to take deep breaths to keep herself from breaking down.

‘We so badly want to be there, Mairi, but right now we can help you more if we stay here,’ Vilma had said.

‘This time, dear girl, we’ll be fighting for you. And all we ask is that you be strong for us. Can you do that for us, Mairi?’ Norah had asked.

The stylist stepped back to admire his handiwork. “There, we’re done…”

Mairi slid her feet into the shoes that looked very much like glass slippers, a gift from Diana Leventis and her classmates. The girls had used their own allowance to buy Mairi their gift, and they had sent it with a selfie photo of the entire class.

We love you, Ms. Yay!

Thank you for teaching us to dream.

Slowly, she stood up, and the stylist took her hand to draw Mairi towards the full-length mirror at the side of the room.

A young woman looked back at her, dressed in a white silk dress that bared her shoulders and emphasized the slimness of her waist before falling to a loose ballerina skirt that fell a few inches past her knees.

So many people had suffered because of her foolish heart and her decision to love blindly.

This time, it would be different.

This time, she would be strong for everyone.

It might be a mistake to love Damen after everything, but it was a mistake that she knew she would make over and over again.

She loved Damen, and she would always love him but this time, she would make sure her love would hurt no one – not her aunts, not her friends, not even Damen – but herself.

“Are you ready?”

It was not the stylist who spoke. This time, the low, dark voice came from Ioniko Vlahos, one of the few persons who had remained at her side from the very start. Dressed in a dove gray suit, the Greek billionaire had insisted on the honor of giving her away when he realized that neither Mairi nor Damen would be dissuaded from their decision to marry before leaving the hospital.

She nodded.

Ioniko moved to her side and gently took her arm. Looking down at Mairi, he realized that a part of him had always known this beautiful young woman would never belong to him. From the very start, Mairi only had eyes for one Greek billionaire.

Still, he had to ask, “You are sure of this?”

A brief smile touched her lips as she answered honestly, “It’s what I’ve always dreamed of.”

Ioniko’s lips curved.

That explained it all, really.

Since Damen Leventis was no longer a Greek billionaire, that really explained it all.

****

Damen’s chest tightened with each step Mairi took towards him.

Beside him, Damen’s best man said under his breath, “You must allow yourself to breathe, my friend.” He was Stavros Manolis, another Greek billionaire whose looks and power had turned him into a celebrity figure. Notorious for being reclusive and aloof, Stavros had shocked the world when it was revealed that he, too, had been vying for the hand of Mairi Tanner, now labelled as a modern-day Mata Hari.

Color stained Damen’s high cheekbones at the realization he had not indeed breathed since the first step Mairi took inside his room. Having overheard Stavros’ aside, the nurses who had been invited to witness the wedding giggled to themselves.

But soon the sounds died and all was left was the most profound silence as Mairi came to stand in front of Damen.

Their gazes met.

And no words had to be spoken.

In the background, the priest started to speak. “Dearly beloved, you have come to this church so that the Lord may seal and strengthen your love…”

Slowly, Damen reached for Mairi’s hand.

Her fingers curled around his and tightened, and the quiet show of support and loyalty humbled Damen.

Soon, the time came for Mairi to profess her eternal love to Damen.

“Do you take Damen to be your husband? Do you promise to be true to him in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, to love him and honor him all the days of your life?”

Fear erupted from nowhere, suffocating her, and for a moment she was lost in the most awful memories.

Esther Leventis, calling her a slut because she had slept with him even if he was promised to another woman…

Cleon Frangos, licking his lips as he unzipped his pants while telling her that they could come into an understanding…

Alina Kokinos, telling Mairi that she had been sleeping with Damen since he had thrown her out…

Mairi squeezed her eyes shut.

No.

She was going to put everything behind her now.

When she opened her eyes, Damen was gazing at her, his eyes fierce, his jaw clenched hard.

Everything inside Damen demanded that he beg for Mairi to stay with him, to marry him, and to love him. But he held the words back even if doing so almost killed him. He was not as selfish as he had thought, after all.

If she married him, the future ahead of them was anything but rosy.

He was no longer a Greek billionaire.

He was only a man who made too many mistakes, and all he could offer her was his love.

He would not keep her with him if she chose to be smart and run away from this wedding.

And so he waited.

Time passed ever so slowly. Around them were reminders of forces that were for and against them. The documents of Esther’s lawsuit against him on the bedside table, the gift from his sister and her aunts, the men who cared for Mairi enough to give her away to Damen if she so chose…

At that moment, Damen realized none of it mattered.

Whether people stood by them or not didn’t matter.

All he wanted was Mairi to be his wife, and if she said yes, then he would fight to the death to keep her safe, cherished, and loved.

“I do.”

His head jerked up, Damen unable to believe that he had really heard Mairi whisper the words.

Unshed tears shone in her eyes as she whispered again, more fiercely, “I do.”

The rest of what the priest had to say was lost in the applause that followed.

Damen pulled Mairi into his arms, and cupping her face, he took her mouth in a kiss that, for as long as it lasted, obliterated every memory of pain.

As their lips met in that one kiss sealing their union, it was as if the past had never happened and Damen Leventis and Mairi Tanner were just two people who had always been in love with each other.

But no kiss lasted forever.

When Damen and Mairi parted, everything came back.

Every heartache.

Every teardrop.

And the knowledge that this was a wedding of two broken beating hearts.

We're up on Buqo!

BUQO is the Philippines' first ever Filipino digital bookstore. So think Amazon - but only this time it has all-Filipino content. Mind you, that doesn't mean everything is written in Filipino. There are lots of English books here, too - they just happened to be authored by Filipinos as well.

Buqo is currently available as an iOS app - download it on your Apple device via the App Store for free.

The app also offers free ebooks and magazines. You can learn more about that by visiting its Facebook page.

Having my books up on Buqo is one of the ways that will eventually make it easier for Filipino readers to buy my books. I've received lots of emails over time about how readers are unable to purchase my books because they don't have credit cards. Well, that's something I believe Buqo is working on so let's keep our fingers crossed that soon you'll be able to buy ebooks via PayPal, bank deposits, or deductions from our cell phone loads. Who knows right? Anything's possible as long as you pray, believe, and work hard for it! :)

So my publisher and I have only recently added my works to iBooks (Apple's bookstore) and I'm really excited how well they're doing!

Picture
So I got my screenshots wrong the first time. Here's the right one. Top 100 on the OVERALL bestselling list for FREE ebooks.

So there. I'm just really happy about it. :) Thank you everyone! Now I'm off to answer everyone's comments since I'm way behind again! 😝

I think I need to pinch myself. That's basically what I've been feeling ever since I started checking rankings. I'm knee-deep in edits and revisions right now, but I just had to blog about this so I can THANK YOU ALL for your amazing support! New readers, old readers, former readers, future readers - everyone who's bought or downloaded a copy of my book - THANK YOU!

And now - the rankings!!!
Picture
First up is Apple.

This is Apple's Top Chart for FREE BOOKS, all categories. The Art of Catching a Greek Billionaire is #115 but if you check out the book below it, I know it's going to give me a run for my money. :P Well, it is the Bible, after all. :D

P.S. You will not be able to see this list on your iPad, iPod Touch or iPhone if you are viewing the PH version of App Store. You need to switch to the US store in order to see this list.

P.P.S. If you are a reader from the Philippines and would like to download my books using your Apple device, you can still do so by installing a Kindle or Nook app. Also, I may soon have my books available on BUQO as well, which is Summit's digital bookstore arm. Watch out for that since I might just publish one of my old Taglish stories there just for fun. :D

P.P.P.S. The Art of Catching a Greek Billionaire is #83 at this very moment (2/9/14, 12:24AM). As of 90 minutes ago, TAOCAGB has had 5,428 downloads so far, ever since it went free on Amazon last February 6. :D

Picture
Can't believe you guys propelled BOTH my boxed sets to Amazon's Top 200!!!
Picture
And finally, thanks to all these, I made it back to Amazon's Top 100 for Most Popular Authors (overall list). I'm particularly proud about this since as you can see on the screenshot above, it's not just because I'm in multi-author boxed sets. It's also largely due to my own boxed sets and of course my free book. But again, none of it would be possible if not for you guys - and God of course.

So yay me, yay you, yay God!

Just wanted to share a couple of screenshots...
First, I'm so amazed with how well To Love a Shifter's doing!
In the left half of screenshot, you'll see that the book's it's ranked #301 but that was yesterday's ranking. Today it's #234!!! Just 35 ranks and I'd be in the Top 200. :D
At present, TLAS is #1 in several of its categories, and that gives the boxed set an ORANGE BESTSELLING FLAG. That is too cool for words. My first time to have that on my own book so really - thank you guys!
In the lower right part of the screenshot, you'll see that in one of the categories TLAS is next to Tangled, which was the January boxed set I was a part of. They're #1 and #2 respectively for the category's bestselling and hot new release lists.
Sorry if I ended up giving you a blow-by-blow --- I'm just that excited.

The Art of Catching a Greek Billionaire went free a few days ago - I think it was February 1 - on Apple and it's now #177 on the top chart list for FREE ROMANCE downloads. That's pretty exciting as far as I'm concerned since I don't think I ever ranked or charted on Apple before.

TAOCAGB also went free seven or so hours ago on Amazon. It's now #567 overall on Kindle's bestselling FREE titles and Top 30 in Free Romantic Comedy titles.

Well, that's it for now. I just wanted to share my excitement with you guys since none of this would have happened without YOU reading my books. :D

So again...thank you!!! You guys rock. Really. I mean it!

P.S. I know you might be sick of me saying this, but in case you don't know - I entered a couple of my books in a cover art contest and I'm hoping you could help me win. You just need to vote for ---
Nick & Lilac (Sexiest Cover category)
and
When Fangirls Lie (Contemporary Series category)
Like I said before, your votes would mean SO MUCH so if you could spread the word, too. That's going to be awesome!

Let's all be happy!

8/19/2013

Today, I'm going to go all emo on you guys because I am sooooooooooooo very happy.
It's really not because I did something super great or that I'm expecting something great to happen to me. Mostly, it's because all around me such exciting things are happening to the people I know and really like and respect and I'm just so happy for them! I see endless opportunities and the loveliest and brightest future ahead of them.

I want to thank God because He's made everyone so happy. At first, I kept trying to come up with just ONE WORD to express how happy, grateful, blessed, and excited I am about what's happening. But in the end, I realized that there's no one word to say all those things. What does exist is ONE WAY to return God's blessings and that's by doing what you can to help other people or just make other people smile. :) Yeah just like that - =D

Now I'm going out on a limb here by sharing with you what makes me happy.

You often read other authors saying that they never thought they'd make it to the NYT Bestsellers List, have their film adapted, never thought they'd get to be this super famous author...

You hear that a lot, right? BUT you only hear them say those things when it's already happened. :)

Well, now, let's just say I'm going to jump the gun and share with you what I've always, always wanted since I started having my books published on Amazon. I want to make  my books to make it to Amazon's Top 100. I want my books to eventually reach the NYT / USA Today Bestseller Lists.

Right now, the dream's like the lyrics from some old song --- "...so near yet so far."

And I know, a lot of people - especially those who don't like my books (we can't please everyone alas) --- will think that I'm just deluding myself into thinking that's gonna be possible.
And you know, I get it. I know I'm not the best author out there. My heroines cry too much, my heroes are such asses, my plots are just so shallow not even an ant's gonna drown in it - yes, yes, I get it.

Also, I'm not even a native English speaker and most times, I don't get my books edited before it goes live coz I ended up cramming again.

But - I love my work. I love writing, I love sharing my stories and making everyone feel good about love and life, and I make sure to improve with every book I put out. I can't promise that I'll change the way my stories work (that's impossible, actually, since I'm a very optimistic person and that's why my heroines are bordering on naive all the time) - but I do take everyone's criticisms into account and you won't ever see me getting into a mud-slinging match because of what this author / reader / blogger said. In the end, I respect people's right to say what they want, 'nuff said.

I also do my best to support other authors and everyone around me. I love my readers and I take the time to thank them because they've taken the time to read my books and even chat with me even though they probably have tons of better things to do.

And...this may seem odd for someone who writes really smutty romances, but I consider myself a pretty devout Catholic (Christian if you will) and I really, really believe that whatever you ask of God, He'll give.

So...with all the exciting things going on around me, I just can't help but think that...maybe...maybe one day soon...I'm going to see MY NAME on Amazon's Top 100. If not with my most recent upcoming book then the one after that or the one after that. I just have to keep trying, right? I think that's all God wants from us. That WE DON'T GIVE UP. We all have to keep trying to reach for our dreams so what do you say about trying...
Here's to hoping we all have a fun and productive week ahead of us! Aaand to end on a happy note, here's the updated cover for Nick and Lilac!

Let's talk about sequels!

7/9/2013

But first things first---

I'm really, really very happy with how well Park and Violet is doing! I know it's too early to tell, but even so I'm glad PNV reached this high in its first week. That's more than enough of me. As always, I was extremely - and I mean EXTREMELY - nervous about the reception of Park and Violet. You don't always have an European guy adopted by Asian parents as a hero, after all.

Reading the reviews, I was actually surprised that some of you still wanted more of these 2 - I thought I tidied things up nicely with their story - I did promise this was a standalone after all. But apparently, I didn't. =P lol. Ah well, I'll take it as a compliment that readers want more of these two.

Now... let's talk about those sequels.

The first thing I can promise you is that we'll have When Fangirls Cry out right after Suit and Fangs - no ifs and buts. After that, we should have the second / last part of Warning: Love Moderately. These were the two books you requested the most after all so we'll definitely get them out.

After that ----

I'm pretty excited about My Secret Professor Boyfriend. I've never had a crush on any teacher - firstly, I studied in an all-girls high school, which meant we also had all-female professors. When I was in college, there wasn't anyone hot or young enough to crush on. BUT I do get to read a lot of steamy teacher-student romances (yes, definitely S.R.'s Gabriel's Inferno is one of my absolute favorites) so I do have a clue about how these, umm, encounters work. And this is a common plot device in manga, too, and you all know how much I love those.

Another sequel in my mind is Dyvian's book in Evren. This one is probably the story I'm struggling the most with because I know where his story is going but the nitty-gritty details aren't that clear yet. All I know is that there's going to be a HUGE confrontation. If you read the excerpt for this then you'll know what that confrontation will be about!

Lastly, we have When I Moan - I'm really, really taking my time with this. I'm very detailed with my Good Girls with Secrets series, so it may be out late this year - maybe just in time for Christmas. Recently, I read the first three books of Terri Anne Browning's The Rocker series. I really, really love that series and I can't help but compare how they are with Em to how my three Grachyov brothers are to Seri. Of course, there are significant differences - my Grachyov brothers aren't quite as wild. They're more the intimidatingly sophisticated type - but I can promise you that they all will have their own stories. Maybe Fyodor, too, coz he's still really hot and he's just in his forties! Haha.

I'm thinking of sharing a scene - not included in the book - just so you can all see how these three spoil Seri. :) Would you be interested in reading that?

The Date You've Been Waiting for

Drum roll, please------
Picture
According to my publisher, she will have When Fangirls Lie and A Royal Heartbreak out on the same day. Just like old times! :)

So thank you everyone for waiting this long. As mentioned way way back, I will raffle out advance copies of ARH - one for those who have commented here in my site, one from my subscription list, and one from my Facebook page. I also recently started a contest for ONE ADVANCE COPY FOR WHEN FANGIRLS LIE and you can still join that. Just comment on my post about it!

Just a last few announcements---
  • I lost my list of email addresses of those who want to have the old newsletter issues sent to them. If you are one of them, please give me your email address HERE IN THIS POST. just so I'll have an easier time listing everything.
  • I will be working hard until maybe May 8 or May 9 on these two books, proofing them over and over. Just a heads up in case you guys think I'm gone and died again. =D
  • I will post two new chapters on May for my free fan fic on Vampire Knight at fanfiction.net --- if someone would be kind enough to tell me how to reply to those who posted comments on my fan fic, I would really, really appreciate it. I still have a hard time figuring that site out, which is one major reason why I have a hard time updating my story there.
  • For those who are still wondering about my Sceleri series (Heart's Stain), Park and Violet, Warning: Love Moderately - Part II, My Secret Professor Boyfriend, IT Girls Are Smart, Too --- we will get them all out this year. I'm just figuring out which to write first. Well, okay it is very likely I will jump into MSPB and IGAST next.
  • Sequels to Death Loves Me Not, Drawn, and Evren - we'll get there eventually. Right now I'm prioritizing series or books that need their HEA endings.

So there you go!

A Prize for Readers

3/3/2013

THANK YOU for all those who checked out Warning: Love Moderately, which peaked at #4 in Erotic and cracked the Top 200 for all free titles in Amazon. In exchange, I've decided that THREE DAYS before the release date of A Royal Heartbreak, I'll be giving away advanced copies of the book - one for a randomly selected reader from my Facebook author page and another for a randomly selected name from my subscription list.

I don't have a publication date yet, and I haven't received any cover details from my publisher but I still have my fingers crossed that it will be out before March 20. =D In any case, it won't affect the prizes. Once I get a fixed date for the release, I'll make another announcement regarding the winners!

Thanks again everyone!
